Mike Bestul - CIO - About Me/Bio

Mike Bestul is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and primary representative to Educause for John Carroll University (JCU). In his role as CIO at John Carroll, Mike provides executive management oversight, strategic planning services, project management, and overall operations management for all Information Technology (IT) related initiatives for the institution. Mike joined John Carroll University in December 2008. Prior to his arrival at JCU, Mike was the Vice President and CIO for Fairmont State University & Pierpont Community & Technical College in West Virginia (2005-2008), the Executive Director of the Florida Community College Software Consortium (2003-2005), the CIO at University of Wisconsin - Learning Innovations (2000-2003), and the IT Director for the State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) (1996-2000). Mike brings more than 25 years of experience to John Carroll University, having started his career in the IT profession in 1982 after graduation from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point (B.S. - Political Science). In addition to his B.S. degree from UWSP, Mike also holds a M.S. in Human Relations & Business from Amberton University.
